What we do

The aerodynamics community studies lift and external propulsion components and systems and their interaction; airframe aerodynamics; noise mechanisms; overall performance; and air loads.

Major community gatherings are the Annual Forum of the AHS, the European Rotorcraft Forum, and several Specialist Meetings. Technical papers in aerodynamics describe efforts using computational aerodynamics, experimental measurements of loads and flowfields, flow measurement and visualization techniques, and analyses leading to better prediction and understanding of rotorcraft aerodynamics. A few presentations and movies follow, from recent work. Note: A general rule is that these are drawn as much as possible from work of people outside the present membership of the committee.
