Professor Howard McMahon taught at the Daniel Guggenheim School of Engineering for over 3 decades. Most of the 3000 to 4000 aerospace engineers who came through this school must have taken his courses - and they will probably recognize many of the problems and solutions that we present below, as memories from those courses. Professor McMahon firmly believed in the value of problem-solving in learning engineering, and he insisted that his students learn engineering thoroughly before they could be let loose in our very demanding field.
Over the decades Professor McMahon collected an excellent set of problems and worked examples in all regimes of aerodynamics, going from junior-level low speed aerodynamics to graduate level gas dynamics and hypersonics. Donated by Mrs. McMahon per his wishes, this set forms the core of the Solutions Library.
